Tristan Stubbs is a South African cricketer who plays as a wicketkeeper for the Proteas (South Africa’s national cricket team). He made his international debut for South Africa in June 2022 in a T20I match against India.

Tristan Stubbs was born on Monday, August 14, 2000 (age 22; as of 2022) and hails from Knysna, South Africa. Previously, the Stubbs family lived in Honeydew, Johannesburg. His zodiac sign is Leo.
He grew up in Johannesburg with his father playing hockey, which instilled in him a love of the sport. Athletic from an early age, he played hockey in the winter, cricket in the summer and golf when there was a major televised golf event. He trained under coach Robin Abbott at the Knysna Sports School, now known as the Knysna Sports Academy. After attending primary school in Knysna, he enrolled at Gray High School in Port Elizabeth, where he captained the school’s cricket team. At the age of 9, he was selected for the U-13 national team of South-West Districts. He once scored his first 50 points at Southwest Districts at Gray High.
Later he started living in Gkeberha, South Africa.

Domestic
He was part of the Eastern Province (EP) U19 squad for Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in 2017 and 2018. He captained the EP U19 team for the 2018 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in Cape Town and led them to a 22-run partnership with 105 contributions.
Stubbs previously captained the Port Elizabeth Gray High School cricket team. He played for the SA Schools XI team and the SA A side. Stubbs made his first-class debut for Eastern Province on 16 January 2020 during the 2019–20 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup. On 16 February 2020, he made his debut for the Eastern Province list in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One Day Challenge. He was a standout performer in the domestic T20 Challenge. On 21 February 2021, he made his T20 debut during the 2020–21 CSA T20 Challenge, in which he played for the Warriors, a Division 1 cricket team representing the Eastern Cape in South Africa’s domestic competitions. During the tournament, Stubbs scored 102 runs at an average of 34 at a strike rate of 127.5, an impressive performance for a debutant.
He was named in the Eastern Province squad for South Africa ahead of the 2021–22 cricket season. He was part of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape winning side in the 2022–23 SA20.
International
In May 2022, Stubbs was named in South Africa’s T20I squad for the series against India, his first international call-up. On 9 June 2022, Tristan Stubbs made his T20I debut against India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi; South Africa won the match by 7 wickets. On 18 March 2023, he made his ODI debut against the West Indies at Buffalo Park, East London. He was part of the South African team that won the Vitality IT20 series against England in 2022.
During the third and final T20I between England and South Africa at Southampton, Stubbs dived and took a one-handed catch to dismiss England’s Moeen Alli, which England Cricket described on Twitter as “one of the best catches you’ll ever see”.

Indian Premier League (IPL)
In May 2022, franchise team Mumbai Indians bought Stubbs for INR 20 lakh for the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), replacing Tymal Mills, who was ruled out due to injury. He scored just two runs in his two games in Mumbai after signing as a substitute.
He was again bought by the franchise Mumbai Indians for IPL 2023.

In July 2022, he was signed by the franchise team Jaffna Kings in the 2022 Lankan Premier League.
