confrontations

Operation Prashant Bhushan

In 2011, Baga along with a group of friends barged into the chambers of Supreme Court lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan and assaulted him for supporting a plebiscite in Kashmir. Baga was apparently functioning under a vigilante group called Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena (BSKS), which included Vishnu Gupta and Inder Verma. Hours before the attack, Baga tweeted,

May God give us the strength to complete our mission.”

After the attack, he claimed credit for it, tweeting:

He try (sic) to break my nation, I try to break his head. Hisab Chukta. Congratulations to all. Operation Prashant Bhushan was successful.

He later added,

We hit Prashant Bhushan hard in his chambers in the Supreme Court. If you try to break my nation, I will break your heads.”

Baga and Vishnu Verma were then arrested near Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Delhi.

Congress leaders in Uttarakhand claimed that Baga’s tweet was aimed at creating communal discord in the state and that he had violated the model of conduct for elections and termed the act as a cyber crime.

Baga then sent a legal notice to Swami on October 1, 2021, warning him that unless he apologized to Baga within seven days, he would proceed with legal action against him. The Delhi HC stayed the defamation case on April 4, 2022.
