Sooraj Thelakkad was born on Monday, September 4, 1995 (age 26 years; as of 2021) in Perinthalmana, Kerala. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. He did his primary education at Government LP School, Thelakadi, after which he completed his schooling at GHS Vengoor. Graduated with B.Com from St.Mary’s College Puthananghadi. Inspired by her father who enjoyed miming, Sooraj first started miming in 5th grade when she was 10 years old. Later he did M.Com. In 2011-12, he participated for the first time in the 52nd State School Children’s Festival held in Thrissur. He got Class A in Mimicry of Kerala School State Kalolsavam in 2012 and second Class A in 2013.

He began his career as an impressionist and mimist. She made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Charlie directed by Martin Prakat in 2015. In 2017, he did cameos in Cappuccino, Udaharanam Sujatha and Vimaanam. He rose to fame playing the lead role of a robot in the film Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 (2019), directed by Ratish Poduvali.

Initially, it was believed that the film team used a real robot for filming. Sooraj hid the fact that he was a robot for at least 45 days. Post revealing Android Kunjappan’s real identity, social media is flooded with posts praising Sooraj. Various celebrities like Guinness Pakru congratulated him on their Facebook handles. In an interview, Sooraj revealed that it took him an hour every day to dress up as Android Kunjappan and a special chair was kept on the set to relax in the robot suit. He added,
I was tired during the shoot because the robot outfit was unbearably hot. Within four days, I started sweating, coughing, and running a cold. My co-actor Suraj told me that it would be better to shave my hair. I wasn’t ready at first but finally decided to have a shaved face for Kunjapan.

His breakthrough in television came with Cinema Chirima, which was a comedy show that aired on Majhaville Manorama. He made his television debut in 2012 as a supporting artist on Bhima Jewels comedy festival season 1 which aired on Mazhavil Manorama. He starred in the Comedy Super Nite franchise from 2015 to 2018. He has hosted shows like Comedy Nights with Suraj (2019), Fun Nights with Pearl Mania (2020) and Comedy Stars Season 2 (2014) as a comedian.

- Sooraj loves to drive cars and has always dreamed of owning a driving license; However, he found that his height was a barrier to obtaining a four-wheel drive license. In an interview he said,
It was my dream to get a four-wheeler license from the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD).”
He added,
I like to drive cars. However, my height was a barrier. I looked for options and came up with a solution, the ‘solution’ was a car with a modified seat.”
He received his license from the regional transport office of Perinthalmanna on September 17. Perinthalmanna Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Binoy Varghese explained that there was a provision to issue licenses to people who are not tall and use “adapted vehicles”. In an interview, he revealed that he went on a road trip after getting his driver’s license. She said,
After getting my license I personally went to Wayanad. It could not be avoided. I will be planning more leisure trips after the threat of covid is over. “

When I was in high school, I was not even 90 cm. Now it is 110 cm. Despite my physical limitations, because of my short height, I was given opportunities and noticed.”
- According to some media reports, doctors said that both Sooraj and her sister had stunted growth due to a genetic problem. According to reports, his father and mother were distant relatives. In an interview he said,
My sister and I are like that. This is a growth hormone problem. Father and mother are related. Their marriage was not a romantic one, but an arranged marriage. One day my father called me and said that you will not grow up and you will rise in life through art or some other skill. Friends are taller than us. My father says this when he sees everything and understands everything.”
- Sooraj has a house built according to height. His previous house, which belonged to his father, became dilapidated. The new house, specially built for Sooraj and her sister, has shelves, cupboards, switches and chairs according to their height for convenience. The house was completed for 17 million GEL.
