Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was an Indian actor, playwright, theater artist, film and play director and screenwriter who played the father of Ananya Krish Malhotra (played by Alia Bhatt) in the Hindi film 2 States (2014). He died on April 10, 2022 after a prolonged illness and pancreatic cancer.

He made his debut as an actor-writer-assistant director with the Hindi film Parinda (1989). He played the role of Francis in the film.

Some of his popular Hindi films as an actor include ‘1942: A Love Story’ (1994), ‘Kamini’ (2009), ‘Stanley Ka Dhaba’ (2011), ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots’ (2010) and ‘Hitchcock’ (2018).

Shiv played the role of Ishwarlal Motilal Veeran in the Hindi serial ‘Mukti Bandhan’ (2011), for which he gained immense popularity.

Due to a prolonged illness caused by pancreatic cancer, he breathed his last on April 10, 2022. His last rites were performed at Mokshdham Hindu Shamshanbhoomi, Ceasar Rd, Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai. On his death, Pakistani journalist, artist and filmmaker Beena Sarwar tweeted:
