- When Purnendu Bhattacharya was around 4-5 years of age, his father used to conduct rehearsals of theatre plays at his home and Purnendu used to watch all the artists and surprisingly learn all their dialogues. That’s how his interest in acting grew.
- Purnendu didn’t want to pursue theatre acting at his father’s expense and at the age of 18, he started giving tuitions to young children. He used to earn 50 rupees at that time and after saving money for some time, he started doing theatre acting.
- Purnendu has always been a Bengali theatre artist and has never tried his hand in Hindi theatre.
- In 2008, he weighed 92.5 kg and with a lot of hard work, he lost 13 kg within 3 months.
- In 2010, he started working as a freelance health coach.

- When he was offered to be part of the Hindi film titled ‘No One Killed Jessica’ (2011), he initially rejected the part as he was not interested in doing films and only wanted to stick to theatre. After some time he agreed to it and his interest in films grew.
