Mansi Joshi is an Indian cricketer who plays as a bowler for the Indian women’s national cricket team. He represents Haryana in domestic cricket. In 2023, she was signed up by franchise team Gujarat Giants for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Mansi Joshi was born on Wednesday, 18 August 1993 (age 29 years; as of 2022) in Tehri, Uttarakhand. He spent his early childhood at his grandmother’s house in Tehri. He was passionate about cricket from the age of 9 and grew up playing the sport with his friends in his neighborhood. He moved to Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand when he was in 3rd grade after his mother was posted there. When Mansi was in 6th grade, he and his mother moved to Roorkee, Punjab. There, an acquaintance of his recognized his passion for sports and offered him admission to St. Xavier’s Academy, Roorkee. At that time, Indian cricketer Rishab Pant was also training in the same academy. His cricketing journey began at the age of 16 when he appeared for the Haryana Cricket Association trials where he was selected for the state under-19 team. In the same year, he also played for the state senior team. He was in 10th grade at that time. His Class 10 board exams clashed with his cricket matches for Haryana; So he dropped out of school. Accordingly, he completed his 10th and 12th classes from a private institution. Speaking about the start of his cricketing journey in an interview, he said:

When I was 9 years old, I remember playing cricket with my colonial friends and cousins. From that time I started developing interest in cricket. My initial days were tough and tough due to lack of cricket knowledge and practice. I once attended trails for the Haryana Cricket Association where I was selected for the senior women’s state team under 19. This was my first attempt. After that I never looked back and soon started my professional cricket training and practice.

One day he visited his friend in Dehradun to play a practice match where he met Virendra Singh Rautela at St Joseph’s Cricket Academy. Rautela suggested that Mansi should move to Dehradun for better training. After that, her mother transferred her job to Uttarkashi; Meanwhile, Mansi started living with her aunt in Dehradun and trained under coach Rautela at St. Joseph’s Cricket Academy. He lived with his aunt for two years. After the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, her mother quit her job and moved to Dehradun to live with Mansi, while her father continued to work in Uttarkashi.

Domestic

At the age of 16, he first represented Haryana in domestic cricket in the U19 category. Additionally, she represented the North Zone Women’s Cricket Team (2010/11–2016/17) and India Blue (2013/14–2018/19). In the 2022 Women’s T20 Challenge, she played for the IPL Supernovas who beat IPL Velocity by 4 runs in the final.

International

He was named in the Indian squad for the T20I component of the three T20I series against the West Indies during India’s tour in November 2016. He was not selected in any of his team’s matches in this series. On 26 November 2016, she made her T20 debut against Bangladesh Women at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, during the 2016 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup. In his first T20I, he took 1/8 and the Man of the Match award in only his second game against Thailand, in which he took 2/8; That game did not have T20I status. She made her ODI debut against Ireland at the P Sara Oval, Colombo in a 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier on 10 February 2017. She was part of the Mithali Raj-led Indian team that finished second at the 2017 Women’s World Cup; England won by nine runs. Mansi took two wickets against arch-rivals Pakistan in the World Cup. After the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup, she suffered a knee injury that sidelined her for over a year. He was then named in the ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. In October 2018, she was named in the Indian squad for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 held in West Indies. In the 3rd ODI during South Africa Women’s tour of India (2019–20) at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara, Mansi Joshi took a stunning catch to dismiss Nondumiso Shangase. Interestingly, the ball first hit bowler Ekta Bisht and then moved to mid-off where Joshi made a brilliant effort to catch the ball. Although Bisht missed the chance to catch and bowl, Joshi made sure that Bisht got his credit for the wicket.
