On 30 March 1983, Vidya married former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth. The couple had their first child Aditya Srikanth on 4 March 1984. Aditya is a former cricketer and he is the founder and CEO of Zealcity Studios, a software company in Chennai. On 14 April 1987, Vidya gave birth to her second son, Aniruddha Srikanth. Anirudha played for Indian Premier League cricket teams Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

During an interview, talking about Krishnamachari Srikanth, Vidya said:
Before any major cricket Test series, Srikkanth, without fail, visits the Guruvayur temple. He is superstitious and wears several charms around his neck which he constantly looks at after each stroke. He even prays while being beaten!”
