He worked as a producer on various Hindi films, including ‘Agent Gopi’ (1978), ‘Haisiyat’ (1984), ‘Vafadaar’ (1985) and ‘Sikka’ (1989). He directed the Hindi film Guru in 1989, starring veteran Indian actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Sridevi and Shakti Kapoor.

- In an interview, Jaya said that before marriage, Nahata was madly in love and waited for hours to pick her up at the airport when she returned from another city. he also said
At the time when my career was at its peak, I was facing some problems with income tax. Srikanth Nahata stood by me during this difficult time. He supported me, brought a smile to my face and was a true friend. Srikanth was already married but slowly love blossomed. We got married on February 22, 1989.”
