Her family moved to Auckland when Setia was just seven years old. He was a bright student and wanted to be an astronaut during his school days. He attended Auckland University to pursue his B.com. Shirley also completed a marketing and publicity internship with Auckland Council. After that, he continued his course at the New York Film Academy.

Career
Setia began her career as a radio jockey at Radio Auckland with Radio Trana; A radio station that played Hindi content in Auckland. During her journey as a radio jockey, she met many Bollywood singers like Shreya Ghoshal who encouraged her to pursue her career in singing. In 2013, Indian music label T-Series organized a YouTube contest for which Shirley recorded the song “Tum Hi Ho” on YouTube. He not only won the competition but also managed to garner huge views on his YouTube Upload. This further encouraged him to do covers of many popular Bollywood songs which were liked by the audience. His channel is in the top #30 most subscribed channels on YouTube in New Zealand. Later, he collaborated with many YouTube celebrities from around the world including Sanam Puri, Arjun, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Darrell Mascarenhas, Antarep Hazarika and The Gunsmith.
Apart from social media, he also performs live at many concerts and events.
In 2018, he released his first single “Naiyo Jaana” in collaboration with music director Ravi Singhal. He subsequently released a Punjabi song ‘Koi Vi Nahi’ with singer Gurnazar Chatt.
