In 2001, Kanica began her acting career in her debut serial ‘Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai.’ In 2003, she appeared as ‘Neelima Garg’ in the serial ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ (2004)

Kanica Maheshwari had a cold war with co-actress Pooja Singh on the sets of the serial Diya Aur Baati Hum. In an interview, Kanica talked about Pooja and said,
I did not have any malicious intent. It’s just that we have been eight people for a long period of time, so I have gotten used to working with them. With Pooja coming in, we have to work towards making new adjustments (professionally). So that’s it, nothing beyond it.”
