Homi Adajania made her directorial debut with the Indian English-language film Being Cyrus (2005), starring Saif Ali Khan. However, the film did not do well at the box office.

In 2015, Homi Adajania was heavily criticized for conveying wrong messages in her short film My Choice. The film was based on women empowerment and talked about the freedom of choice that women should have. Critics found the film “sexist or male-dominated” for the film’s dialogue, which quote,
It’s my choice to get married or not to get married… It’s my choice to have sex before or outside of marriage…”
Adajania later said that his film was misunderstood by the audience. He explained in an interview that he had no intention of hurting people’s ideas and perceptions. Ironically, the misunderstanding caused #MyChoice to go explosively viral, and if that’s what it takes to get people to consider gender equality, then I’m willing to take a hit and get it wrong. More power to women and let’s hope the healthy discussion about gender equality continues.”

- Homi Adajania always wanted to become a commercial scuba diver, but as the job involved risk of death, he decided to pursue a career in the film industry and joined the advertising industry after graduating from college.
- His father ran a petrol pump at the red light in Mumbai, and after his death, Homi Adajaina took over the business when he was 23 years old. He found it very difficult to run a petrol pump in an area surrounded by hawkers, mafia and policemen. In an interview, he shared a scary incident that happened while they were working there. It was terribly uncreative and dangerous. I remember once my manager was robbed and his fingers were cut off in front of me when he was taking money to the bank.
