Dr. Charles Wilson, a pathologist, provided evidence that Dylan died of an overdose of mirtazapine, an antidepressant given to him by Scanlon.

Dylan had more than 20 head injuries, which Dr. Wilson said were consistent with injuries suffered by children who are abused by adults and which he suspected were not accidental.

Scanlon claimed in her testimony that she was not to blame for Dylan’s death and that she was unaware of how the lethal dose of mirtazapine had entered Dylan’s system.
