Uday Pratap Saharan was born on Wednesday, 8 December 2004 (age 19 years; as of 2023) in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. When he was eleven, he went to Punjab to get better chances to play cricket. He played for the team in the under-14, under-16, and under-19 age groups.

Cricket

In 2022, he was kept as a backup player for the Under-19 World Cup. He travelled to the West Indies with the team but didn’t get to play in any of the matches. In 2022, he led the Indian team in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. They reached the semifinals of the competition. After doing well in the 2023 Under-19 Challenger Trophy, where he made 297 runs in five games with an average of 99 runs, he was chosen to be the captain of the Under-19 cricket team. He shined in the youth one-day international match against South Africa’s under-19 team by scoring the most runs, 112. Then, he made 74 runs in a practice match against Australia’s under-19 team and 50 runs without losing his wicket in another practice match against Sri Lanka’s under-19 team. In their opening match of the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa on January 20, 2024, the Indian team faced Bangladesh at the Mangaung Oval. India went to bat first and scored 251 runs, with 7 players out over 50 overs. Adarsh Singh and Uday Saharan scored the most runs for India. Adarsh Singh got 76 runs off 96 balls, and Uday Saharan got 64 runs off 94 balls. On 2 February 2024, in the game before the semi-final against Nepal, Saharan made 100 runs from 107 balls, including 9 boundaries. Saharan and Sachin Dhas worked well together, especially during the tough start of the game, and set a record by scoring 215 runs together in only 202 balls. When I walked in, the ball was seaming around. There was bounce as well. So I had to be conscious of that and could not play my shots freely. As the ball got older, it started coming onto the bat better. The odd ball was still bouncing but by then we were set and could handle it.”

In an interview, Uday talked about leading the Indian team in World Cup 2024 and said,

Always wanted to play for India since I was young; it was the dream of my father as well. Today, I am leading the side, living the dream. We are prepared for the World Cup, excited as well.”
