Shaheen Afridi was born on Thursday 6 April 2000 (age 23; as of 2023) in Landi Kotal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. His full name is Shaheen Shah Afridi. Shaheen grew up playing tennis ball cricket in the barren hills of Landi Kotal, bordering Afghanistan.
When his elder brother Riaz Afridi, a former Pakistani cricketer, saw Shaheen performing phenomenally with the tennis ball, Riaz introduced Shaheen to hardball cricket. In a fairly short span of time, Shaheen made it to the Pakistan national team in 2018 at the age of 17.

A Muslim by faith, Shahen Afridi belongs to the Zakakhel Afridi tribe of Pashtuns. It is the largest Afridi tribe in Khyber Agency.

Shaheen’s father Ayaz Khan is a retired government officer and her mother is a housewife. Shahini is the youngest of seven siblings.
His elder brother Riaz Afridi represented the Pakistan national team in a test match in 2004. Shahini is 15 years younger than Shahini.
On 3 February 2023, he married Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha in Karachi, Pakistan.

Domestic/Regional Cricket
In 2015, at the age of 15, Shaheen appeared for a professional cricket trial. The test was held to select players for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) cricket team.
In 2017, Shaheen was signed by Dhaka Dynamites, a Bangladesh Premier League franchise, on a two-year contract. The same year, on 26 September 2017, he made his first-class cricket debut for Khan Research Laboratories in the 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. In his debut match, he achieved 8 wickets bowling for 39 runs. These were the best figures ever achieved by a Pakistani bowler on his first-class debut. In April 2018, he was included in the Balochistan national team ahead of the 2018 Pakistan Cup. On 25 April 2018, he made his List-A cricket debut for Balochistan. During his illustrious career, Shaheen played cricket for several franchises around the world.
International cricket
In March 2018, due to his notable performances in domestic T20 tournaments, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee picked Shaheen in Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the series against the West Indies. On 3 April 2018, he made his T20 International (T20I) debut for Pakistan against West Indies.
That same year, in September 2018, his name was included in Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2018. On 21 September 2018, he played his first ODI match for Pakistan and then made his Test debut for Pakistan against New Zealand on 3 December 2018.

After the controversy made headlines, Tik Toker Hareem Shah released a clarification saying that the Twitter account through which the video was originally uploaded is actually a fake account. Later, when Shaheen was asked about the controversy during an interview, he denied it, saying:
Off the pitch, the negative news keeps coming. I try not to pay attention. Because there is competition [for places] In fast bowling, I tend to keep my focus on performance.”
- In December 2019, Sheen Afridi landed in hot water after he allegedly made a racist remark to a Pakistani media correspondent who was questioning him during a post-match press conference. When a journalist asked him a question, Shaheen said in Urdu:
Toda light apne aap pe karein, toda sa nazar aye muje” (Please throw light on your head so that I can see you clearly)

- Shaheen Afridi didn’t even play regional cricket until the age of 19 and was selected to play for the Pakistan national team at the age of 16.
- Shehen Afridi once considered quitting the sport after he had a terrible outing against the Qalandars in the first three matches of the Pakistan Super League: Season 2017. Former Pakistan pace bowler Aaqib Javed revealed this during an interview with Cricket Pakistan in 2020. she said:
He was only 17 years old when he (Shahen) presented Qalandar for the first time. He had a few bad games in the beginning, so he came to me and told me that he doesn’t want to play cricket anymore and he has to return the money that the Qalandars owners invested in him. I told him that anyone can run and that one day he will be a superstar. We rested him for a few games and then brought him back against Multan where he took five wickets. It’s all about believing in talent and giving them opportunities.”
- Being on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Grade A contract player list, Shaheen is eligible to earn PKR 1.1 million (approx. 5,20,000 Indian Rupees) per month as per the PCB Men’s Central Contract List for 2020-21.
- He has an Audi A4 in his car collection.
- On 30 June 2023, he created history by taking four wickets in the first over of the match. Representing Nottinghamshire Outlaws in a T20 Blast game against Birmingham Bears, he dismissed Alex Davies (0), Chris Benjamin (0), Dan Musley (1) and Ed Bernard (0) in quick succession to secure four wickets for his side in the opening innings.
