Indrani Roy is an Indian cricketer who was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 10 Lakhs in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction held on February 13, 2023. He is a wicket keeper, right bat and right arm medium pacer.

Indrani Ivy Roy was born on Friday 5 September 1997 (age 25 years; as of 2022) in Lilua, Howrah, West Bengal. He did his schooling at Sunrise (Eng. Med.) School, Howrah, West Bengal. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. When he was a child, he played various sports but was not particularly interested in cricket. He got interested in cricket when he was in class 8 and one day while going to his class he saw a woman going to cricket practice. That day he thought that the coaching center was near his eyes and next day he went there and played cricket for the first time. He liked the game so much that he started going to the center every day and started playing cricket at the age of 15. While he practiced, his studies suffered. He didn’t score well in school, so his father told him to stop playing. He stopped playing cricket for two years but his mind was always on the game. She was looking for a coaching center that trained women and when she found it, she was afraid to tell her father, so she asked the coach, Pachu Gopal Maji, to come to her house to accommodate her father. It was only when Mr. Panchu Gopal Maji came to me and convinced my parents to let me play cricket. And since that day they have given everything for my cricket and I am happy that in my way I can repay them. My mother was a source of inspiration for me. We don’t talk much about my game at home, but they were my strong supporters. Now I am in Kolkata for practice. I called my family and they are very happy for me. Looks like all the sacrifices they made for my game are finally paying off. “

When he joined the coaching centre, he played with boys who played state and first division matches, which helped him raise the standard of his game.

Cricket

In 2014, he was selected by Bengal U-19 team. He won the national championship in the 2014-15 season. He left the team in 2018 after four years as the top performer. In 2017, she joined the Jharkhand women’s team. According to him, the reason he left the Bengal team was that he did not get a chance to defend the balls because there were other wicketkeepers in the team, but as a batsman he got a lot of experience. He played in the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) inter-district tournaments for the Bokaro team.

He helped the team reach the semi-finals, but the competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 2020–21 season of the Senior Women’s One Day League, she became the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 456 runs in eight matches, including two centuries.
