Gaurav Bhatia is an Indian lawyer in the Supreme Court of India and the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. On 13 July 2022, he hit the headlines after he accused former Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari of inviting a Pakistani delegate who had leaked some confidential Indian information to Pakistan’s spy agency ISI during the UPA government in India.

Career

The Uttar Pradesh state government appointed Gaurav Bhatia as the state’s Additional Solicitor General (AGG) in 2012. After that, he was appointed as the national spokesperson and the national president of the legal wing of the Samajwadi Party. The post of AGG was vacated by the state government in 2016. From 2015 to 2017, he served as the Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association of India. After that he worked as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and later he was appointed as a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court. On 5 February 2017, he resigned from the Samajwadi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party as its national spokesperson on 2 April 2017. In one of the media talks, he spoke about the reason for leaving the Samajwadi Party and said that the interests of the legitimate community in Uttar Pradesh were not protected under the rule of the Samjwadi Party.
