Megan Nichols missing case has gained significant public interest after the case has been featured on NBC Dateline.
An episode titled “The Note,” which will chronicle the mysteries surrounding Megan’s disappearance, will air on 15 October 2023.
The investigation into Megan’s disappearance was initially handled as a runaway case until her remains were found in a remote place in 2018.
The Note also identifies Megan’s killer, Brodey Murbarger, who was found guilty of the murder in 2023 and given a 50-year prison term.
The episode includes interviews with various family members, friends, and law enforcement authorities involved in the case, such as Megan’s mother, Kathy Jo Hutchcraft.

Dateline Megan Nichols Missing Case Update 2023
Megan Nichols, a 15-year-old girl from Fairfield, Illinois, disappeared from her home on 3 July 2014.

She left a note saying she ran away, but her mother did not buy it. She filed a missing person report the following day.
Her body was discovered in a shallow grave in Wayne County, Illinois, on 26 December 2017 and confirmed to be hers in January 2018. The manner of her death was not disclosed.
In October 2020, Brodey Ian Murbarger, who had dated Megan, was arrested and accused of killing her. He was found guilty in January 2021.
Murbarger maintained his innocence and said that he and Megan had split up before she went missing. He also said he had a witness who could vouch for his whereabouts when she disappeared.
In January 2023, Murbarger received a 50-year sentence for Nichols’s murder.

She participated actively in the Fairfield First Baptist Church, singing in the choir and having fun with her youth group friends to show her love for Jesus.
She enjoyed singing and playing the ukulele for her family, friends, and pets at home. She delighted in making them grin.
Megan was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. She always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude.
She made friends quickly and was loyal to them. She was an inspiration to many people who knew her.
Megan’s family and friends miss her dearly and cherish the memories they have of her.

The fund was established in her name to support the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
