Bobby Kinnar is an Indian transgender politician and member of the Aam Aadmi Party. In December 2022, she became the first member of the transgender community to represent a ward in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Bobby Kinnar was born in 1984 (age 38; as of 2022) in Sultanpur, New Delhi. As soon as Bobby was born, his parents knew he was different from other children. As he grew older, people noticed changes in him and began to treat him differently. He had to drop out after passing 9th grade because he was bullied and bullied at school. When Bobby was 15, his family was forced to give him up to the transgender community; Thus, Bobby was adopted by a transgender Guruji. Bobby’s father, Om Prakash, ran a small dhaba in Delhi’s Sultanpur district. She died when Bob was a baby. He has a younger brother who works in a private firm in Delhi. He also has a sister. He and his siblings were raised by his mother, who did odd jobs to support her family. When Bobby was 15, he was adopted by a transgender guru (deceased). In the interview, Bobby shared that his biological mother loves him very much and that he is still in touch with his family and visits them every month.

Career
According to transgender traditions, Bobi would initially visit homes in his place, dance and sing at occasions such as weddings and child births, and ask for token money (badhai). However, he didn’t like doing this and soon stopped following her.

In 2022, the Aam Aadmi Party announced Bobby Kinnar as its candidate for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections from Sultanpuri A Ward-43, making the Aam Aadmi Party the first political party in India to give a ticket to a transgender. After receiving the ticket, he addressed the media and said that he entered politics for public welfare and if he wins the elections, he will strengthen the transgender community. She said,
If I win the polls, it will send a strong message and also encourage transgender people to come forward and make their mark like before. Now people of our society are moving away from politics. There are many educated people in our society. I want all such people to enter politics and do social work so that our name in the society can grow.”
Further pointing out the problems faced by common people in his region, Bobby said that people have to pay bribes to do small jobs and produce documents. She said,
If I become a councillor, I will work to end corruption. I will not allow officials to take bribes and I will do public works for free.”

While campaigning for the polls, he promised to allocate funds for the education of underprivileged children and bring the work of the Kejriwal government to the public. In December 2022, Bobby Kinnar won the MCD election, defeating Indian National Congress candidate Varuna Dhaka by 6,714 votes. During his media briefing after his victory, Bobby thanked the people who worked so hard for him. She said,
I want to dedicate my victory to the people who worked so hard for me. I want to thank everyone. Now I just have to work for the development of my region.”

Confrontation
In May 2011, a complaint was registered against Bobby Kinnar at Mangolpur police station by a man named Ramesh. In his complaint, Ramesh alleged that Bobby entered into a criminal conspiracy with other transgenders, including Khalibuddin, Ram Babu, Lakshmi and Shoba, to mutilate Ramesh’s private parts. Ramesh later moved the Rohini court to plead against all the accused. In the final judgment, the court found that Ramesh chose voluntary castration for monetary gain.
