Who Is Evan Hawthorne? Ex-Chester County Deputy Arrested For killing Lieutenant Larry Vaughn By Brutal Beating

The internet was stunned after Former Chester County Sheriff’s Deputy Evan Hawthorne was accused of the Murder of a Retired Rock Hill Police Lieutenant.

Former Chester County sheriff’s deputy Evan Hawthorne was detained in 2019 after being caught intoxicated, driving in his Police cruiser, and causing an accident. After his arrest, sheriff Max Dorsey dismissed Hawthorne.

Sources claim that the York County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the homicide investigation from Rock Hill Police. Hawthorne is being held at the York County Detention Center on a murder accusation.

According to sources, the homicide case remains under investigation. Prosecutors claim Hawthorne followed Vaughan home and killed him using blunt force trauma.

Who Is Evan Hawthorne?

Evan Robert Hawthorne was arrested for the July 2021 death of Larry Vaughan, who served at the Rock Hill Police Department for 30 years before his retirement.

Evan left the agency in 2018 to return in May 2019.

WCNC Charlotte confirmed that Hawthorne was at one point a deputy with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, but in 2019 was fired from his job after driving a patrol car while drunk.

Shortly after, in July of that same year, Hawthorne was terminated by Sheriff Max Dorsey after a DUI incident where reports say Hawthorne was off-duty driving his patrol car while intoxicated.

A former law enforcement officer, Hawthorne was hired at the Chester County Sheriff’s Office under then-Sheriff Alex Underwood in August 2015.

Hawthorne’s Father, an area real estate agent, says the family is declining to speak regarding the incident.

The culprit appeared before a magistrate judge this past Saturday after being booked at the York County Detention Center.

According to York County Sheriff’s Office notice, deputies were called to The Anderson complex on East Main Street on Friday, July 23, after a person was found dead in an apartment.

Ex-Chester County Deputy Arrested: Explore Charges Faced

York County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested in connection with the homicide of a retired Rock Hill Police lieutenant.

In connection with Vaughan’s killing, authorities detained Chester resident Robert Hawthorne, 27. At the intersection of Ebenezer and Hollis Lakes roads in Rock Hill, according to Police, Hawthorne was discovered.

Around 3:15 pm on Friday, on East Main Street in Rock Hill, deputies were summoned to the Anderson Apartments. Deputies discovered deceased retired Rock Hill Police lieutenant Larry Vaughan in an apartment when they got there.

After 30 years of service, including 20 years with the Rock Hill SWAT team, Vaughan will retire in September 2020.

The retired Lieutenant Larry “LV” Vaughan’s tragic passing is being mourned by the Rock Hill Police Department. Before retiring in September 2020, Lieutenant Vaughan worked diligently and devotedly for our community for almost 30 years, starting his career with the Rock Hill Police Department in June 1990.

He held the positions of Criminal Investigations Supervisor, Patrol Officer, Special Projects Officer, Patrol Supervisor, K-9 Officer, SWAT Sniper, SWAT Team Leader, SWAT Commander, Firearms Instructor, Driving Instructor, and Patrol Rifle Instructor throughout his career.
