He started his career as an editor at Gemini TV following which he got an offer to act in a TV serial and started acting.
He made his debut in the Telugu film industry in 1997 with the film Master and played the supporting role of Sivaji. He went on to act in several films as a supporting actor, including Kushi in 2001 as Babu, Indra in 2002 as Giri/Veera Manohar Reddy, Jalsa in 2008 as Raghu, and Kousalya Supraja Rama in 2008 as Ravi.
In 2003, he gave his first hit film as the lead actor titled Missamma, featuring Bhumika Chawla; he played the role of Nanda Gopal in the film. A few of his films as a lead actor include Mr & Mrs Sailaja Krishnamurthy in 2004 as Krishnamurthy, Sathyabhama in 2007 as Krishna Kumar, Diary in 2009 as Vamsi, alongside Shraddha Das, and Seesa in 2016.
He appeared as a contestant in season 7 of Bigg Boss Telugu in 2023 which is aired on Star Maa channel.
He made his web series debut in 2018 with Gangstars which was streamed on Amazon Prime; he played the role of C. I. Anjaneyalu.
His debut as a dubbing artist was for Nithin in 2002 for the film Jayam. He later dubbed for Aryan Rajesh in Sontham in 2002, for Yasho Sagar in Ullasamga Utsahamga in 2008, and for Vijay Sethupathi in the Telugu version of Pizza in 2012.
He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014; however, he had a fallout with the party and left it in 2015. In 2015, he went on an indefinite hunger strike with the demand of special status to be given to Andhra Pradesh. He later adopted a soft stance against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and started supporting TDP’s supreme leader, Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
In 2018, he made headlines in Telugu politics after alleging that the BJP had divided Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as Operation Garuda and Tamil Nadu and Kerala as Operation Ravana in a bid to increase its stronghold before the 2019 General elections. He alleged that the BJP was trying to destabilize the political arena by physically attacking the local leaders through its workers. BJP leaders responded by saying that the plan was made by TDP and filed a police complaint against Sivaji.
TV9 Forgery Case
In 2019, he was named as a co-conspirator in the TV9 forgery case involving TV9 CEO, V Ravi Prakash, and CFO, KVN Murthy. They were accused of fraud in purchasing 40000 shares of TV9 worth Rs 20 lakhs.
