The Board expressed its deepest sorrow over the demise of Mr. Sim and conveyed its condolences to his family on behalf of all the staff members of Creative Technology.

Sim Wong Hoo was a successful businessperson and entrepreneur. By 2000, he was Singapore’s youngest billionaire. The Singaporean technology pineer was 45 years old at that time.

The multimillion-dollar technology firm generated US$61 million in revenue in 2022 and currently has offices in Shanghai, Tokyo, Dublin, and Silicon Valley.

In 2006, Mr. Sim made big news after Creative filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple about the iPod music device.

Ultimately, the two businesses reached a court settlement, and Creative walked out from its David and Goliath conflict, US$100 million richer.

But when Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed away in 2011 from pancreatic Cancer, Mr. Sim wrote a full-page newspaper ad and paid tribute to the Apple co-founder.

Sim Wong Hoo Was From A Zhao’an Hokkian Family

The late entrepreneur was born in Singapore into a Zhao’an Hokkien household in 1955. He graduated from Bukit Panjang Government High School.

After completing his high school education, Sim Wong Hoo received his degree from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Electrical & Electronic Engineering department In 1975.

The institution used to be known as Ngee Ann Technical College back then.

Mr. Sim worked in the private engineering sector for a year after completing the required National Service.
