Sanjeev Tyagi embarked on his acting career in the realm of theatres. He worked in some theatrical productions including ‘Devdas’ (2018), which was performed at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai. In this production, he played the role of ‘Chunnilal.’ It was a 150 minutes-long play, adapted from Sarat Chandra Chatterjee’s Bengali romance novel; Saif Hyder Hasan directed the play.
Sanjeev Tyagi made his debut in the Hindi television industry with a DD National show. In 2003, he appeared in the daily soap opera ‘Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai,’ which aired on the StarPlus channel. Tyagi played the role of ‘Mr. Malhotra’ in the popular soap opera ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ (2005). From 2011-2021, he made episodic appearances in a true crime anthology series titled ‘Crime Patrol,’ which aired on Sony Entertainment Television (SET); Tyagi played the roles of Abhimanyu Jindal, Kevalram, Thakur Mahendra Singh, and inspectors in the series.
In 2022, he played the role of ‘Abhimanyu Jindal’ in Crime Patrol 2.0. Sanjeev Tyagi appeared in other television series such as ‘Adaalat’ (2011-2014), ‘Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq’ (2012), ‘Million Dollar Girl’ (2014), and ‘Court Room – Sachchai Hazir Ho’ (2019).
Sanjeev Tyagi debuted in Bollywood with the film ‘Money Devo Bhava’ in 2011; he appeared as ‘Shailendra’ in the film.
