Sai Chand (1984-2023) was an Indian folk singer and politician. He was the Chairman of Telangana State Warehouse Corporation. On 29 June 2023, he died of cardiac arrest in Nagarkurnul district, Telangana.

From the time of studying in school and college, he started participating in various singing competitions. She has also participated in various reality TV singing shows like ‘Folk Star Dhoom Thadaka’.

One of his memorable speeches was at the inauguration of Martyr Jyoti. In 2017, he started his YouTube channel called ‘Saichand Songs’ where he shared videos of his songs like ‘Jeena Haito Marna Seekho’, ‘Gulaabiveerudo’, ‘Amma Paata’ and ‘Rathibommalona’.

On 6 September 2003, he joined the Indian political party “Telangana Rastra Samithi” (TRS), now known as Bharat Rashtra Samithi.

He also played a role in the movement for the formation of Telangana state. During the second phase of the Telangana movement, he used his songs and dances to inspire people and strengthen the spirit of Telangana formation. He actively worked to raise awareness about the development and welfare programs of the government after the formation of the state. In December 2021, Sai Chand was appointed as the Chairman of Telangana State Warehouse Corporation. In 2023, his name was nominated as a candidate for Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Mahbubnagar Local Government Constituency. However, later his name was removed from the list of candidates.

On June 29, 2023, he died of cardiac arrest. A day before his death, Sai visited his farm in Karukonda, located in Nagarkurnul district of Telangana, along with his family. Later in the night, he developed chest pain and was rushed to a hospital in Nagarkurnool. Later, he was shifted to Carey Hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed grief over his death. Rao emphasized that Sai played an important role in the cultural movement during the Telangana statehood agitation and his contribution was invaluable. Rao also mentioned that Sai’s performances were an integral part of his public meetings and they were never held without him.
