Career
After completing her MBA, Namita worked briefly at GlaxoSmithKline, a British multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company headquartered in London. After that, he was placed with Guidant Corporation, a medical device company in the US. He started working in the financial planning department as a business finance leader. He served the company in various capacities for about 6 years. He subsequently joined Emcure Pharmaceuticals as CFO. Gradually his area of operation expanded in the company and he started looking after the Indian business of the company. Since 2022, he is the CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.
In 2017, he founded the educational company ‘Incredible Ventures Ltd.’ The company’s goal is to promote youth entrepreneurship by introducing entrepreneurial skills to children aged 11-18. It has branches in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
Thapar is a member of the Fuqua School of Business Regional Advisory Board. Namita is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization. He is also a Trustee on the Board of Trustees of TiE Mumbai. In December 2021, he appeared as a judge on Shark Tank India, the Indian adaptation of the popular American business reality show ‘Shark Tank’. The show features a panel of potential judges, also known as sharks, who listen to and invest in various new business models and ideas.
She is also associated with various government initiatives like ‘Women Entrepreneurship Platform’ and ‘Digital Health Task Force’ of NITI Aayog and ‘Champions of Change’. The programs were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of G2B partnership in policy development. Apart from being an entrepreneur, Namita is also an author. In August 2022, he released the book Dolphin and Shark (stories about entrepreneurship). Published by Penguin Random House India, the book traces Namitha’s journey from an overweight Gujarati girl with low self-esteem to a successful entrepreneur who took her father’s business to new heights.

- He likes to watch Bollywood movies. During an interview, she said that before her marriage, she used to visit the theater on the first day of almost every Bollywood movie. Namitha also revealed that she named her sons Vir and Jai after the main characters in the Bollywood film Sholay (1975).
- In an interview, Namitha revealed that she grew up with her brother and eight siblings, all of whom were top of the class except Namitha. Namitha came second in her class and her family members have never been congratulated for such a thing.
