In November 2020, Michael Mitchell Jr was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Grambling State University senior Michael Robinson Jr.
Robinson was found dead in the trunk of his black Chevrolet Camaro. The incident occurred when Louisiana State Troopers saw Robinson’s car speeding on Louisiana 17 in Franklin Parish on July 29.
They stopped the car and spoke to the driver, who turned out to be Mitchell. The cops noticed the smell of marijuana on Mitchell and he admitted to smoking it.
When they searched the vehicle, they discovered Robinson’s lifeless body in the trunk.

On July 29, 2020, a Louisiana State Trooper stopped a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro on Louisiana Highway 17 near Winnsboro for a moving violation.
During the stop, the patrol officer noticed bullet holes in the driver’s side of the car. The driver agreed to let the patrolman search the vehicle.
Unfortunately, during the search, the body of Michael Robinson Jr., a 23-year-old from Monroe, was found in the trunk of the car.
After discovering Robinson Jr.’s body, cops arrested the driver, an 18-year-old named Michael Mitchell Jr., also of Monroe.
The investigation revealed that another person, Cameron Powe, 19, of Monroe, was also involved in the murder.

Police arrested Powe at his Monroe home. Powe and Mitchell Jr. were taken to the Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with second degree murder.
According to police, it was alleged that Powe and Mitchell Jr. had taken Robinson’s body to a remote location provided by Powe and loaded it into Robinson’s car.
They then headed to Franklin Parish to dispose of the body. Both individuals were given $500,000 bail after being charged with second-degree murder.
Mitchell and Powe were held at the Ouachita Correctional Center while they awaited trial or until they could post bail.
But, after Powe was arrested, the police decided to drop the murder case against him when they found more information on Mitchell.
Officers said Powe was not involved in the crime. It’s rare for someone to have the chance to fix a bug like this.
