Manika Batra (born June 15, 1995) is an Indian from Naraina Vihar in New Delhi. She was fond of playing table tennis at the age of five and during her school days, she received professional coaching of the game from coach Sandeep Gupta. At the age of 8, she won the under 8 state level tournament.
Physical appearance
Manika Batra has a fit physique of 34-28-34 with 6′ height and 65 kilograms in weight. Her flexible body helps her to take different movements to handle all kinds of shots and her good strength with her intelligence moves a ball at different angles according to situations and requirements.
Family, caste and boyfriend
He belongs to a simple Hindu family. Her father, Girish Batra, was very supportive of her taking up table tennis as a career and cherishes every one of her matches. She was brought up in a table tennis environment and loved people as her older brother Sahil and her older sister Anchal play this game.
Manika remains single and is solely focused on her career.
Career
Manika completed her secondary education at Hans Raj Model School, New Delhi, and later studied at Jesus and Mary College in the same city. But she dropped out of college in the first year of graduation to pursue her career in table tennis.
In 2008, at just 13 years old, he represented India at an international level tournament.
In 2011 he won a silver medal in the Under-21 category of the Chilean Open. Partnering with Mouma Das and Ankita Das, Manika won silver medal in both the women’s team event and women’s doubles event at the 2015 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships and went on to win bronze in the women’s singles events in the same year for the same championship.
At the 2016 South Asian Games, she won 3 gold medals, first with Pooja Sahasrabudhe in the women’s doubles event, then with Anthony Amalraj in the mixed doubles event, and finally with Mouma Das and Shamini Kumaresan in the women’s team event.
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Manika, along with other women on Team India, again won a gold medal for India.
On November 19, 2022, she made history after becoming the first Indian paddler to medal at the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup tournament, where she won bronze after defeating world number six and three-time Asian champion Hina Hayata 4-2.
