The demonstration casts doubt on how well Sir Keir’s security measures are working as he is under strict protection as the opposition leader.

Marie Tidball, the party’s candidate for the Penistone and Stocksbridge parliamentary seat, gave the speech of the Labour leader’s opening remarks.

In spite of the “Tory project to kick the hope out of this country,” Sir Keir praised the spirit of the British people in his speech.

He declared that he wanted Labour to lead the country through a “decade of national renewal,” which may mean at least two terms.
