Urška Žigart is a professional racing cyclist from Slovenia who currently rides for UCI Women’s WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla.

According to Igart’s Jayco-AlUla team, she is suffering from abrasions and a concussion and will be monitored. Also, the team doctor said Urka had small skin abrasions and a concussion.

Niedermaier’s Canyon-SRAM team would not confirm the severity of his injuries, stating that they would initially provide medical updates in the future.

What happened in the Giro Donne accident?
Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) and Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar Team) were left out of the race for the Maglia Rosa on stage 5 of the 2023 Giro Donne.
Longo Borghini ultimately decided not to start stage 6 on Wednesday after losing second overall.

However, Niedermaier was involved in a crash with Jayco-AlUla’s Urka Igart the day after she won a crucial stage on her Giro Donne debut, forcing both riders to retire from the race.
With around 34 kilometers remaining on Wednesday, Niedermaier joined the elite group that had formed atop the first big climb and had looked strong all day.
As the course flattened out, the smaller riders chased the two breakaway riders, Elinor Barker and Petra Stiasny.
Niedermaier, wearing the best junior’s white jersey, positioned himself at the back of that group.
There were few riders around the German, but Igart, who was to the left of Niedermaier, abruptly lost control of his bike and sped straight into the Canyon-SRAM racer, forcing them to crash.
Live photos showed Niedermaier cradling her face, covered in blood, after the duo appeared to go down violently.
