Ethen Vanderpool Arrest & Charges: Why Was He Arrested?
Ethen Vanderpool was arrested on November 15, 2018, when he was 15 years old, for the shooting death of JayShawn Taylor, a 16-year-old junior at Mt. Juliet High School.
The shooting occurred at Vanderpool’s home, where he and Taylor had met with two girls to sniff glue.
According to court testimony, Vanderpool became angry when he thought Taylor was looking at one of the girls he was dating at the time, grabbed his shirt and backed him onto the bed before firing a fatal shot.

Vanderpool initially called 911 and claimed that he was defending the two girls from a home invasion.
The girls also lied about the incident at first but later changed their stories and admitted that there was no break-in.
