In 1986, enrolling his daughter Sushma in missionary schools in Vijayawada was quite difficult.
Since there were no girls’ residential colleges in the state at the time, his wife suggested they build one,” recalls Dr. BS Rao when asked why he decided to give up his lucrative medical career to start a business.
Later, after discussing the concept with Gullaiah from Gautam College, a renowned institution, he offered his full support in establishing our residential college.
The consequence was the founding of the Sri Chaitanya Residential College for Girls in Vijayawada in 1986 with an initial capital of 4 lakhs; its tremendous success is part of the state’s educational history.

Dr. Boppana Satyanarayana Rao, founder and president of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, passed away on Thursday in Hyderabad due to age related difficulties.
He was 76 years old. According to his family, Rao would be buried on July 14, 2023 in Vijayawada.
Numerous legislators and students sent their condolences to the BS Rao family. TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu sent the esteemed educator his heartfelt condolences via Twitter.
Dr. Jhansi Laxmi Bai has always been supported by her husband, Dr. BS Rao, in following his passions and working to establish Sri Chaitanya as a center that enables mothers and women to raise well-rounded children.
