Danny Zayat’s Family Details
After his girlfriend was discovered dead, the brother of a man charged with more than a dozen domestic violence-related crimes lost control. He hurled insults and threats at a reporter for the Daily Mail Australia.

Nearly 24 hours after calling triple-0 for help and complaining that her partner was “beating” her, Tatiana “Tania” Dokhotaru, 34, was discovered dead inside her Liverpool apartment in south-west Sydney at around 8pm on Saturday.

Olga Dokhotaru and Dennis Thievin, her distraught parents, have criticized police for their slow response, saying she might still be alive if they had come to her apartment the night she called for help.
Danny Zayat, 28, the estranged partner of Ms Dokhotaru, was arrested at the site on Saturday and has since been charged with various offences, including asphyxiation and rape of an AVO, which allegedly took place in the days before her death.
In court on Monday, he was denied bail, and it is understood that his and Ms Dokhotaru’s son, who celebrated his fourth birthday just hours after his mother’s body was discovered, is now in the custody of Zayat’s parents.

Before Tatiana Dokhotaru was discovered dead in her Liverpool apartment on May 27, 2023, 28-year-old Danny Zayat was charged with 18 counts of domestic violence against her.
He has not stood trial for Dokhotaru’s demise. His request for bail was denied when he appeared in Liverpool Local Court on Friday, with prosecution hinting that more serious charges could be brought.
Relatives, including his mother, friends and neighbors who wept when Zayat appeared via video link from prison, joined him in court.

Tendayi Chivunga, a friend of Dokhotaru’s, walked past them as she left court in tears as Zayat’s family yelled and muttered among themselves during the bail hearing.
She told reporters outside: “Danny’s family was calling me horrible names as I walked out of court distraught and crying.”
After being denied bail, Chivunga claimed she was locked in a courthouse interview room while Zayat’s relatives went “crazy” outside the door before bailiffs ushered them out.
