Officials reported that a wrong-way motorist was killed in a head-on collision in western Wisconsin that severely injured a mother from the Twin Cities and two kids in an SUV.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened on Sunday just after midnight on Interstate 94 close to Menomonie in Dunn County.
Benjamin P. Wilfer, 33, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was the driver who passed away.
Cierra D. Ellis, 27, of Maple Grove, and two boys, ages 6 and 8, whose identities were not released, were hospitalized with critical injuries.

Demarie J. Ward, 28, of Chicago, who was driving the SUV, was expected to recover from his wounds, according to the police.
The patrol, which has yet to explain how the car ended up on the wrong side of the highway, claimed that Wilfer was driving east on westbound I-94 when he struck the SUV.
