Career

Anmol Kharb initially competed in various inter-school badminton competitions as a member of the Dayanand Public School badminton team. At her first state championship, Anmol Kharb reached the finals. In the same year, she lost in the quarterfinals of her first U-13 nationals and the next year, she lost in the U-15 nationals to the then-Indian number 1 player Samayra Pawar. Later, she joined the Sunrise Shuttlers Academy in Noida. In 2019, Anmol won her first national-level title with the U-17 All India Ranking title in Hyderabad. She was only 12 years old then. In the same year, she also reached the semi-finals of the Senior All India Ranking tournament in Visakhapatnam. In 2020, she competed in the U-17 Sub-Junior National championships and won both singles and doubles championships. In the doubles championship, she was paired alongside Vennala K.

In 2022, she competed in the Asian Junior Championships but could only make it to the pre-quarterfinals of the Championship. Anmol won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in 2023. In December 2023, she competed in the 85th Senior National Badminton Championship held in Guwahati and won a gold medal by defeating Tanvi Khanna in the finals. In January 2024, she became the champion of the Yonex Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

In 2024, she was a member of the Indian Badminton team that represented India at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships held in Selangor, Malaysia. The other members of the team were P. V. Sindhu and Ashmita Chaliha. The Indian women’s badminton team went on to win the gold medal at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships which was also India’s first-ever medal in the women’s category in the Badminton Asia Team Championship. She played 3 matches at this championship and all 3 were knockout matches. In the first knockout match, she defeated Wu Luo Yu of the People’s Republic of China who held a world ranking of 149 with a score of 22-20, 14-21, 21-18. In the semi-finals, she played against Natsuki Nidaira of Japan who held a world ranking of 29 with a score of 21-14, 21-18. In the finals, she played against world No. 45 Pornpicha Choeikeewong of Thailand and easily won the finals with a score of 21-14, 21-9 in just 43 minutes.

Achievements

In December 2023, Anmol Kharb was honoured by Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and the President of FDBA with a cash award of INR 1,00,000, in the presence of Sarkar Talwar, Sports Director at MREI. She was also given five years of free support from the state-of-the-art Manav Rachna Sports Science Centre and a full scholarship for her academic pursuits at the Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies.
