A bar fight in South Kuta, Bali, turned out to be fatal for Australian citizen Troy Scott Johnston, who was on vacation with his wife and child.
An intoxicated Johnston was allegedly bashed on the head with a chair by an Indonesian person at a cafe.
According to sources, he suffered a severe cranial injury and died on the spot.
The alleged killer, Gede Wijaya, has been arrested and put in police custody.
However, he denies killing Johnston and claims that the accident occurred as self-defense.
The case has gained widespread media attention because an Australian tourist has been killed in Indonesia, challenging the safety of tourists in the country.
40-year-old Troy Johnston from Perth worked as an airport controller for Rio Tinto at its Perth Airport operations center.

Who Is Troy Johnston Wife Ni Nyoman Purnianti?
Australian citizen Troy Johnston wife, Ni Nyoman Purinati, is an Indonesian woman.
The couple was happily married for some years and were on vacation to South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia.
However, the vacation turned out to be fatal, as Mr. Johnston, 40, was killed in a bar fight earlier.

Mr. Johnston from Perth went out for a night drinking at around 7:30 pm Wednesday.
Purnianti contacted her husband at 10:30 pm, and he said that he was still drinking and would return soon.
However, after her husband failed to return until 3:45 am, the distressed wife searched for him.
She reached Uncle Benz Cafe and was shocked to find her husband’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood on the terrace.
Johnston had a massive wound on his head. He died of a cranial injury.

Perth Father Troy Johnston Killed In Bali Bar Fight
Upon seeing him lying dead, Troy Johnston wife, Ni Nyoman Purnianti, soon called the police.
After the authorities arrived at the crime scene, Gede Wijaya, the owner of Uncle Benz Cafe, was identified as his murderer.
Upon interrogation, Wijaya first disputed that he did not kill but later confessed that he accidentally killed Johnston.

Gedo Wijaya claimed that Johnston was drunk and throwing bottles on the street.
Seeing that, Wijaya first approached the Australian tourist and tried to calm him down.
However, he was hit by the drunk foreigner who attacked and slammed him to the floor.
The perpetrator claimed that the two then wrestled on the floor, and Johnston got up and allegedly grabbed a chair and threw it at him.
Wijaya, In turn, snatched the chair away from him, causing him to fall with severe head injuries.
Troy Johnston wife, Ni Nyoman Purinati, however, disputes Wijaya’s claim and believes that he murdered her husband.
What happened during the altercation and whether Wijaya hit Johnston with a chair remains to be investigated.
If found guilty of murder, Gede Wijaya will face a jail sentence of up to 15 years.
