Yousef, 17, of Burnage, south Manchester, was stabbed in the chest on March 2, 2019, during a confrontation with Joshua Molnar, also 17, in Hale Barns. A mere 15 weeks later, wealthy Hale family member and former public school student Molnar, now 20 and charged with murder and manslaughter, appeared in court at Manchester Crown Court.
It has been suggested that the events leading up to Yousef’s death either involved a botched drug deal or a revenge attack in which Molnar was beaten, and his $2,000 bike was thrown into a hedge.

Just over three years ago, Yousef Makki, a gifted and active schoolboy, was fatally stabbed in a quiet Greater Manchester village. According to Molnar, who claimed he acted in self-defense after Yousef pushed and punched him, called him a “pussy,” and pulled a flick knife on him first, a jury exonerated him of both murder and manslaughter.
Yousef’s family claims that this is entirely out of character for him and that he had served as a peacemaker. Molnar acknowledged lying to Police at the scene and having the knife that caused the fatal wound.

Yousef’s family referred to the inquest verdict as disgusting, and last month they made it known that they had submitted a judicial review application to the High Court in an effort to overturn the coroner’s decision and have a new inquest conducted by a different coroner.

Ghaleb Makki, Yousef Makki’s Father, rose to his feet in the upstairs gallery of Manchester Crown Court as the foreman read the jury verdicts. Mr. Makki’s Father was heard shouting, “Where is the justice for my son?” as the families of the two accused wept in the public gallery.

After the bereaved Father collapsed in the public gallery, paramedics were called. The verdicts left other members of Yousef’s family in tears and disbelief.
