Nalini made her television debut as a contestant on the dating reality show MTV Splitsvilla in 2009. She gained recognition for her role as ‘Trisha Swaika’ in the television serial ‘Laut Aao Trisha.’

Nalini Negi recalls being physically assaulted by her roommate: “She wanted to ruin my face.”
In 2019, an incident occurred where Nalini Negi filed an FIR against her roommate, Preeti Rana, and her mother, Snehalata Rana for physically harassing her. The FIR was filed at Oshiwara police station. Nalini allowed Preeti to stay with her in her flat as Preeti was unable to find a new place to live. However, when Nalini requested Preeti and her mother to vacate the flat, they refused, leading to a disagreement and eventually resulting in physical harassment towards Nalini.

In 2009, she alleged that some of the top crew members of MTV Splitsvilla Season 2, including the director, slept in the same room as Joanna Magee, the second runner-up of the show. Negi said that there were favours being made towards the end of the show.
