Accident Update Of Michael Barrymore
Barrymore and her boyfriend Jonathan Kenney visit the Millennium nightclub in Harlow, Essex, on March 30, 2001.
They invite seven neighborhood residents, including Stuart Lubbock, age 31, back to Barrymore’s home in adjacent Roydon around 2:30 a.m. for a party.
Later, Lubbock’s father Terry claims that his son was not gay and only went because “he would have enjoyed boasting to his workmates about it the next day” rather than being homosexual.
Kenney later claimed that he and another visitor, Justin Merritt, were “talking” in Barrymore’s master bedroom at 3.30 a.m.
Twenty minutes later, according to Kenney, Barrymore comes in, changes into shorts, and leaves while announcing his intention to use the Jacuzzi.

Kenney recounts that the performer left and returned after another five minutes, claiming that Lubbock’s body was floating in the swimming pool.
In a statement after the fact, Barrymore asserts that he discovered the body “between 4.30 am and 4.45 am,” which is between 30 and 45 minutes later than Kenney recalls.
Merritt called an ambulance to the residence at 5:46 a.m. Within ten minutes, it shows up, by which time Barrymore and the other two had already left.
At 8:23 a.m., Lubbock is pronounced dead. While Michael Heath, the first pathologist to examine the body, finds no obvious signs of trauma, the police suspect he accidentally drowned because he had been drinking and using cocaine and ecstasy.
