Cassandra, his daughter-in-law, recognized Violette. She claimed to the Lewiston Sun Journal that he passed away at the Just-In-Time bowling alley defending a group of kids he was with.

She added that he leaves away six grandchildren and three sons. Lucy, his wife, suffered injuries in the assault. Talking about his age, he was 76 years old at the time of death.

According to Cassandra, Violette was a lifelong resident of Lewiston with solid links to the neighborhood and a caring demeanor toward everyone around him.

“He insisted that you give him a hug and a peck on the cheek before you could leave.” He was always there for me,” the woman remarked. After retiring, Violette, a former Sears technician, spent his time bowling.

More Details On Maine Shooting

Lewiston’s Just-In-Time Recreation is a bowling hall where the shootings started. At 6:56 p.m. EDT, the first emergency calls were received. At this site, seven persons lost their lives.

A second shooting was reported shortly after, at 7:08 p.m., at Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant, which is located 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Just-In-Time. 

Here, eight people lost their lives, and three more passed away in a hospital sometime thereafter. Although gunshots were heard at a nearby Walmart distribution center, the business claims that no shooting took place there.

At around 8:00 p.m., the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police notified the locals of an active shooter. The shooter was shown carrying an assault-style weapon in photos issued by the sheriff’s office.

To accommodate victims, the Central Maine Medical Center worked with nearby hospitals. Several of them were transported to Portland’s Maine Medical Center, the state’s most prominent hospital.
