Investigators claim that after arguing with Botikov, the suspect used a belt to choke him before running away. Additionally, law enforcement officials informed the local media that the crime was domestic violence and the outcome of a dispute.

Official accounts claim the 47-year-old virologist’s death resulted from a botched burglary. Still, it is important to remember that this incident is one of several mysterious deaths among the Russian elite, including businessmen and scientists, over the past year.

The suspect accepted his crime and expressed his guilt while being questioned. The defendant has a criminal history because he was tried for allegedly committing a severe crime.
